Leaves with Amber Hearts

Fall, light as a fairy, nestles in treetops christening leaves with amber hearts. When work is done they spiral down spreading the word fall is here. It’s a time to drift in freefall savoring their freedom before settling in place. Once there, they shield all things trapped beneath their pallet of spreading wings. Over the winter warmed by crystal snowflake blankets they will nurture buried roots making ready for their reawakening in the greening of spring.
